CGTrader AI policy: what its seller terms say about training
Updated
CGTrader is one of the largest places a 3D library is sold, and its general terms carry a training clause most sellers never read. Here it is, with the No AI licence and the clauses around it.
Ask about my 3D models 3 of the 16 platforms we read can already train on what users put in. Tell us where your models live and we will write back about your library.
CGTrader does not own your models
The general terms say "Members may only upload Content they own or otherwise have the right to use and upload. CGTrader does not own any Content uploaded by Members." That puts CGTrader with the 12 of 16 platforms on our board that leave ownership with the uploader.
But it may train on listed products unless you choose No AI
The same terms let CGTrader use products for machine learning or training of neural network models, including generative AI, for its own tools and with its partners, "unless the Seller opted out by licensing the Product offered for purchase under the licenses marked with" No AI.
CGTrader's AI tool keeps its own usage statistics
CGTrader's separate AI terms of service, for its own generation tool, keep aggregated and anonymized usage statistics as CGTrader's, and tell users: "You are responsible for downloading and backing up any content you wish to retain."

How CGTrader compares with the other marketplaces
2 of the 16 platforms on our board offer an opt-out like this, CGTrader and Fab. Sketchfab and ArtStation go further and say they will not use uploads for generative AI at all, NoAI tag or not.
